You started to learn how to code on your own on freeCodeCamp or a Udemy course or even on Youtube. Waking up early in the morning and sleeping late at night, and not going out probably for weeks because yo want to make a change in yourself. But you got stuck in some subject and now you started to lose the interest of becoming a Develper.

Pretty sure we all can relate to this at some point .

Here are some tips to keep you motivated ⭐️ :

#1: Remind yourself why you started this jouney πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ

When you start to feel to quit, take a break and remind yourself why you started this in the first place. What was the goal you had in your mind and the feeling you felt when you rendered the first "Hello world".

If you didn't set any goal yet, set one today and it don't have to be a big one. You just need something that keeps you going on your journey.

#2: Always practice what you've learned πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»

When you are learning something new, learning it only won't keep that information in your head. You need to practice and solve quetions related to it so you understand it more.

Same thing applies here in the world of tech, you need to practice daily in order to improve your skills and understand that topic more. And you know what they say "Practice makes perfect".

Its like you're learning mathematics, you don't just learn, you actually solve problems that helps you understand more. And same as someone who's learning a new language like english, he/she needs to speak more in order to become fluent in that language. Same applies here, if you want to learn something you need to practice it more !

#3: Stay discipline πŸ’ͺ

Discipline is a subject that gathers a lot of interest. Consciously or subconsciously I think we all know as some level that our level of discipline is the difference between falling into bad habits and staying where we are, or developing good habits that will allow us to move closer to where we want to be.

Everyone needs to have a mixture of discipline and motivation to keep them keep going on in this journey, but in order to get motivation you need to be discipline and achieve your small baby goals.

Espicially if you're a self-taught developer or in the journey to become a one, the motivation won't be there always but the discipline is something you need to have first then the motivation will come later.

Here are some quotes to help you stay disciplined :

  • β€œDiscipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”

  • β€œSmall disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great achievements gained slowly over time.”

  • β€œFor a man to conquer himself is the first and noblest of all victories.”

#4: Don't compare yourself to others πŸ‘Ύ

When you start to learn how to code, don't compare yourself with others but yourself. Compare yourself with yourslf yesterday and see how much you've improved and became better.

Don't compare your start to others harvest season

Remeber that everyone had to start from the bottom, no one was like oh i want to start learning how to code and boom he's an ultimate developer. you need to go through every stage of learning so when you make it you'll appreciate everything you have done.

#5: Focus on the journey, not the result πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Coding and programming isn't something that's meant for everyone. And for sure learning it isn't easy. So when you start to learn or you're already in the learning process, dont look for the end results.

Instead, focus on the journey and embrace it. As a developer, the learning journey never ends. Cause we're learning everyday.
